Our Story at

Hi! Jan Pasternak here!!

When I was eight years old, I started playing racquetball with my father.  I loved the sport and thought if I could eventually beat his friends, then I might be able to play competitively.  In 1971 and 1972, I was the National Racquetball Champion in singles.

Since then, I played collegiate badminton, started my own business, and stopped playing competitive sports until someone invited me to play pickleball.  Pickleball ?? What a funny name.  It must be a dorky sport.

Well, when I realized she was serious and the name was real, I met her at a city recreational facility and instantly fell in love with the game.  I have been playing pickleball ever since, and that was over twenty years ago.  Having stirred the competitor in me, I enjoyed traveling the country to play at various tournaments including Nationals where I medaled in both singles and doubles.

Several years ago, before the current pickleball madness took off, I became a self-appointed ambassador to pickleball at my club, having to explain that, indeed, pickleball is a real game, it is tons of fun, extremely  social  ….. and yes, you must build dedicated pickleball courts!

I have enjoyed giving pro bono lessons and clinics.  I was the tournament director for several tournaments, and am currently an investor in two indoor pickleball clubs.  I remain an enthusiastic player, although my days of competition are behind me … mostly.

Pam and I are having fun connecting gently used paddles and bags with players that are not ready to make a big investment in equipment.  Please continue to browse this site to find out how you can make a little money by selling us your paddles and bags or how you can purchase gently used, quality equipment as you enjoy your new-found obsession of pickleball!

Game on, Pam!

Hi! Pam Roberts here!!

Like thousands of others, I started playing pickleball during COVID and became addicted right away.  Having never played racquet sports before, I wasn’t sure how I would compete against others.

I started with an inexpensive paddle that came with a starter set and learned rather quickly that I needed a better paddle.  I did not want to invest too much in a paddle because I was still unsure of which one to buy.  Luckily, I was able to buy a paddle from another player at a reduced price.  This gave me an opportunity to upgrade without spending a fortune.

The more I played, the more my skills improved.  My circle of pickleball friends grew and the competition became tougher.  As time passed, I found myself buying new paddles while the older ones sat on a shelf.  With this in mind and with Jan already selling used paddles to new players, we decided to start POPP & E (Pre-Owned Pickleball Paddles & Equipment).

Jan and I have a unique insight given our in-depth exposure to top level players and trends in pickleball.    We are both investors in an indoor pickleball club and I am an investor in a senior pro team.  Needless to say, Jan and I both love pickleball!

Our goal with POPP & E is to help players rid themselves of their used, good quality paddles and connect them with players that want to purchase a decent paddle at a reasonable price.  It is a win-win for both sides.

With our combined 25+ years of experience with playing, we can identify the quality of paddles and equipment that we are receiving and selling.  We look forward to helping you rid yourselves of the paddles and bags you no longer use and helping them find a new home.

Yep Jan, game on!
